Starting out as an art director in the film industry, Kristina nurtured her creative side by perfecting set designs. With a meticulous eye for detail and a love of bringing a space to life, Kristina started up lighting design and hire company La Lumiere. From simple festoon and fairy lights to luxurious crystal chandeliers, La Lumiere knows how to light it up! With lighting being so important to the design of a wedding day, we sat down with Kristina to chat lighting trends and creating the perfect atmosphere for your special day. Why is lighting at a wedding so important?   All brides and grooms-to-be have something in common – they want their wedding to look amazing and they want their guests to have an equally wonderful time. But, to put it bluntly, bad lighting can totally ruin your dreams of a picture perfect wedding. How can lighting create different ambiences? Lighting sets the whole tone for your wedding. It creates atmosphere and atmosphere IS everything. It's important to have the right style and amount of lighting that is not only flattering (very important if you have spent all that time and money on hair and makeup!) but also in sync with the vibe of your wedding whether it be relaxed, festive, magical or romantic. And naturally your guests will pick up on this and feel more comfortable, excited, and will be more likely to have a good time and brave the dance floor. This area is particularly important as no one likes an over lit dance floor. What should a bride & groom keep in mind when it comes to hiring lighting for their wedding? If you plan to do you own lighting the best advice we can give is make sure you give yourselves plenty of time and make sure you have the right kind of lighting to suit the space. Getting it looking right can be time consuming. Not to mention making sure you have the right equipment to hang the lights. Of course you can always hire professionals like La Lumiere who will bring everything, take away all the stress and make it look perfect. What is the current trend for lighting at weddings? Soft draping and crystal chandeliers are very popular for the current and up-coming season. Visit La Lumiere here. All images provided by La Lumiere.
